Gant Rugger | Attention to Details
When you wear Gant Rugger you notice not only the fit and function of the garments but even more the small details are what leave a lasting impact on the privileged owner of the garments. Christopher Bastin’s attention and care over all areas of design of Gant Rugger are staggering and take me back to a time of my youth when Gant was the anchor of a young man’s wardrobe.
Clipped locker loops on the OCBD evokes memories of your high school steady doing so to stake a claim on her man. Nostalgia also sets in when one finds “Chad” on the interior of the collar as one would often sign his John Hancock on the collar to prevent locker room clothing confusion.
Design details don’t stop there as lightweight cotton madras shirts remind you of better days and at times even feature a pin-up girl stitched under the cuff as a wink and a nod to mid-century neckties. Thoughtful design like button closure pockets and V stitching showing up on many of the shirt’s backing set these shirts apart while each garment has the diamond ”G” showing up on the chest or imprinted on the lower hem.

The clipped collar loop evokes memories of an article on Ivy-Style and not a steady. While delightful, it’s contrived… not that anyone will notice.
slick.
Great shoot – love the details.
These are nice shirts, but they’d be nicer without the stupid gimmicks that you cite so approvingly. Why would I want the name Chad on the inside of my collar?
Great pictures – did you get a new rig?
Thanks my friend.
Same camera… Still using the Canon T2i
i agree, i do not want some random bro named chad marking his territory on my shirt. the ‘details’ come off affected, rather than authentic. give it to me cripsy and new. i wanna make it my own.
I like the nostalgic logos. However, the Chad script and the cut locker loop make this look like they are trying to hard. Maybe the Gant customer doesn’t realy care about that but isn’t the cool factor in those details when you write your own name in or clip the loop yourself? These details make this look un-authentic. How about a stash pocket on the inside of the waist band. If they are going “there” then why not have some higher brow details.
However I think the G logo in the square is a much nicer logo than their patriotic crest.
I also like that MB is taking his details from his original collection and putting them to work on Gant’s as well. At least his work for Gant is slightly more affordable.
Have to agree with those who say these details are a bit unauthentic and/or affected. Too reminiscent of mall shops like American Eagle Outfitters or Abercrombie & Fitch (and their associated brands) for the Gant Rugger price-point. But, maybe that is the point?
the only thing that i really like here is the tab closure for the breast pocket … and even that could’ve been done better. all of these “unique details” make the majority of this unwearable for me.
i’d like rugger a lot more if they actually made their garments in the US.
chad? really?
